Electric boogaloo
Electric boogaloo is a fluid, leg-oriented funk style built on rolls of the hips, knees, legs and head. It is closely related to the earlier boogaloo danced in Oakland, California, and to popping, and it combines older boogaloo forms with popping technique. Steps associated with it include the creepin' and the slot.
The style is the signature of the Electric Boogaloos, a crew founded in Fresno, California, in 1977 by Boogaloo Sam; Popin' Pete was among its first members. The group appeared on Soul Train, which helped carry the style beyond California, and in 2012 it received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Choreographer's Ball.
