Rave
A rave is a dance party in a warehouse, club or other venue where DJs play electronic dance music. The modern scene grew from acid house in the United Kingdom in the mid-to-late 1980s. The music ranges from acid house and techno to jungle and hardcore. Dancing is improvised: there are no set moves, and people take cues from the music and from those around them.
In Germany the Love Parade began in July 1989 in West Berlin with about 150 people, as a political demonstration for peace through music. It grew into a mass event but ended after a crush in Duisburg in 2010 that killed 21 people. Since 2022 the Rave The Planet parade, founded by Love Parade creator Dr Motte, has been held in Berlin as its successor.
